Acid Wash

What is Acid Wash?

ACID WASH is a concentrated rust, scale and lime remover, that is excellent for a wide range of descaling, de-rusting, and lime-removal applications.

Key Benefits;

  • Very concentrated and economical to use
  • Does not give off corrosive fumes
  • A powerful deruster and descaler
  • Excellent for removing excess grout from new ceramic tile floors.
  • How Does It Work?
  • ACID WASH is a concentrated acid based cleaner for dissolving rust, scale and lime build-ups. It also contains detergent to remove oil contamination from surfaces being treated. ACID WASH is non-corrosive to stainless steel.

How to Prepare and Use an Acid Wash for Rust Removal

To effectively remove rust using an acid wash, follow these steps:

  1. Dilution Process:
Start by mixing the acid with water. Use a ratio of 1 part acid to 6 parts water, ensuring the solution is properly diluted. Always add acid to water, not water to acid, for safety reasons.
  2. Application:
Once the solution is prepared, apply it to the rusted surface using a brush. This ensures even coverage across the affected area.
  3. Waiting Period:
Allow the solution to sit on the surface for 15 to 30 minutes. This period lets the acid effectively break down the rust.
  4. Rinsing:
After the designated time has passed, thoroughly rinse off the solution with cold water. This step is crucial to remove any residual acid and prevent further corrosion.

By following these steps, you can effectively treat rusty surfaces and restore them to their original condition. Always wear appropriate safety gear, such as gloves and goggles, when handling acids.

Procedure for Descaling Dishwashing Machines Using ACID WASH

Step 1: Prepare the Machine

  • Begin by turning off the detergent dispenser pump and controller.

Step 2: Fill the Wash Tank

  • Close the drain valve to prevent leakage and fill the wash tank with water.

Step 3: Add ACID WASH

  • Depending on the size of your machine, add the appropriate amount of ACID WASH:
    • For single-stage or smaller machines: Use 350 ml.
    • For larger machines: Use between 1 to 2 liters.

Step 4: Recirculate the Solution

  • Start the machine and let the ACID WASH solution circulate. This process continues until you observe that the scale build-up has been removed.

Step 5: Address Remaining Scale

  • If any scale remains above the waterline, manually scrub these areas with the ACID WASH solution. Ensure you wear gloves and safety glasses for protection.

Step 6: Drain the Solution

  • Open or remove the drain valve to empty the cleaning solution from the machine.

Step 7: Rinse the System

  • Close or replace the drain valve, refill the machine with clean water, and circulate for 2-3 minutes. Then, drain the water again.

Step 8: Final Rinse

  • Once more, refill the machine with clean water. Turn the detergent dispenser back on and let the machine circulate this water for 5 minutes.

Step 9: Complete the Process

  • Finally, open or remove the drain valve to release the water. Your machine is now descaled and ready for use.

Precautions for Using Acid Wash on Various Materials

When handling Acid Wash, it’s crucial to be aware of its potential impact on several materials. Here’s a guide to help you take necessary precautions:

  1. Avoid Soft Metal Alloys: Acid Wash can etch and damage metals such as aluminum, zinc, and diecast. Ensure these materials do not come into contact with the solution.
  2. Steer Clear of Certain Stones: Acid Wash is harsh on surfaces like limestone, marble, cement, and terrazzo. These materials are susceptible to damage if exposed to this solution.
  3. Immediate Response to Accidental Contact:
    • If Acid Wash mistakenly touches any sensitive material, quickly rinse the area with copious amounts of water. This helps to mitigate potential damage.

By following these steps, you can use Acid Wash safely and effectively without risking harm to your materials.

ACID WASH conforms with all statutory environmental requirements. It is based on safe ingredients selected to perform efficiently so there is no waste or damage. ACID WASH is non-flammable and biodegradable. They can also be recycled.
